About Find DNS records

The Find DNS records tool is a quick and easy way to find out where your domain name is registered with the Internet's Domain Name System (DNS).

The DNS is a directory of internet addresses that helps computers find each other over the internet. Each domain name has at least one corresponding IP address (e.g., 127.0.0.1), which can be used as an endpoint for TCP connections or UDP datagrams (for example, when sending email).

When you use our Find DNS Records tool, we'll search for your domain name on popular public DNS providers like Google's Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services' Route 53 service, as well as any private registrars who offer themself-hosted solutions.

The Find DNS records tool allows you to search for a particular domain or IP address by name, type and TTL. You can also choose from three different geographic locations: North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

You can use this tool to find the following types of records:

NS (name server) records \ n A NS record contains information about which nameservers are used by your domain's domains. When someone asks the DNS server where they should look for YOURdomain , it will first check whether there is an NS record at that location; if not, then it will continue with its standard search algorithm. The most common use case for NS records is when someone wants their website hosted at HostGator but doesn't want anyone knowing that they're using HostGator as their host because they don't want others seeing them as being associated with that company .
